lucky
written, recorded and produced by brian ellefson
Living in the moment that’s now
yesterday
I thought that it would be all
of us every summer
But now that I’m looking back I
can see we were lucky to have so much time
Nothing so good could last
forever
And sleeping on the beach we
were all so crazy
Playing in the fire jumping over
the flames
And giving you my blanket while
the sun rose over all of us
Playing in the sand carving out
all our names
I know we’ve gone
From ten down to two
And we’ve scattered so far
But I’m lucky to still have you
And these memories
Although they make me sad
there’s nothing that I can do
I am keeping them and you
It’s all I need to know now
Summers on a boat sleeping out
in the sunshine
Winters on a mountain drinking
nothing but beer
And I kept your jacket so you’d
have to come and take it back from me
And all the while people started
to disappear
And a wedding in the spring that
came as no surprise
Everybody’s got to go and find
their own way
And watching as our “family” two
by two they left to make their own
Never got to say some things I
wanted to say
But it’s okay
I know we’ve gone
From ten down to two
And we’ve scattered so far
But I’m lucky to still have you
And these memories
Although they make me sad
there’s nothing that I can do
I am keeping them and you
I know we’ve gone
From ten down to two
And we’ve scattered so far
But I’m lucky to still have you
And these memories
Although they make me sad
there’s nothing that I can do
I am keeping them and you
It’s all I need to know now
All I need to know now
It is all I really need to know
right now
